After the Han collapse, three kingdoms fought for ninety-six years. Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Sun Quan, Zhuge Liang, the Battle of Red Cliffs (208) — events romanticised by Luo Guanzhong into one of the four great Chinese novels. Jin reunified in 280.
